Around 8:30 p.m. every night for the past two weeks I’ve been craving a frozen custard peanut butter cup Spoonbender from Good Times. Tonight, I finally convinced Jody to go get me one. I’m not even going to think twice about all of the fat, calories and crap that’s in it. I’m just going to enjoy it. 🙂
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Anybody have any toddler shoes (flexible soles preferred) that you loved for your kids? Julian is in need of some new shoes soon and I don’t know what to buy. Ava wore ShooShoos and then Preschoolians, but I’m looking for something different this time around.
Right now he’s got one pair of used Robeez and they are getting a little snug. I’d like to find something with a slightly more sturdy sole (though still flexible) for the winter. Also, I don’t mind paying more for good quality shoes for my kids, but any sites with discounts or coupon codes are definitely welcome. 🙂
Thanks for any suggestions you can offer! 🙂
NaBloPoMo – Day 6
After entering a handful of contests (maybe 50 or so) from the Fall Y’all Bloggy Giveaway, I was so excited to find out I won some of them!
And, unrelated to the Bloggy Giveaway, but a win nonetheless is the book “Mr. Darcy’s Diary” (think Pride and Prejudice – aaah, Colin Firth *swoon*) from This Momma’s Cafe.
So now I’ve got gifts for the kids and reading material for me. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson, “Woohoo!” 🙂 Thank you all for participating in the giveaways, both here on my site and all over the ‘net! It was a lot of fun.
Also, I just saw this post and realized that I am guilty of doing that myself. I’m very sorry. It never even occurred to me that it may be interpreted as spam, but that is in fact what it was. My sincerest apologies to you all.
Congratulations to #34 – Jennifer! The random number generator choose you as the winner of the Bitty Braille t-shirt giveaway. I will be emailing you soon.
Thank you all for entering. If you haven’t been to Bitty Braille lately, go check out their new limited edition holiday shirts. They are super cute!
After having a pukey (literally) weekend here, Jody decided to take today off of work to make sure he was fully recovered before heading back. He works with two guys with infants at home and did not want to pass this flu onto them. So since he was home and I was feeling better (still drained of energy, but much better than I was), I decided to take the opportunity to run some errands that I’d been wanting to do for a while – alone. 🙂
You could almost hear me singing as the screen door closed behind me and I skipped to the car. Yes, it had been a while since I got out by myself for a few hours. 😉
I went to the bank, the post office, the grocery store, and a few stores in search of Christmas presents for the kids and some new clothes for me, specifically new jeans. Ever since the knees tore out of my favorite pair of jeans, I’ve been down to one wearable pair, which used to be my sister’s, and they don’t even really fit. As in if I don’t wear a belt, they will be around my ankles in no time. So not cool.
It was one of those days where the stars were aligned perfectly because not only did I find a new pair of jeans (the second pair I tried on!), I also found a pair of corduroys, a pair of comfy lounging around the house pants, two shirts and two sweaters. All for under $110. There’s nothing like a good pair of jeans and some great deals to help a girl forget about the pukiness of the previous few days. 🙂
I also picked up a couple of Christmas presents for the kids. It feels early to me to be starting on that, but since I am generally a last-minute shopper and I want to buy quality toys this year, I figure it’s better to get a head-start. I also picked up a jumping ball for Ava (much like the one from preschool pictured in the post below), which I gave to her today. An evening of bouncing ensued.
After my afternoon out, I felt recharged and ready to take on the world – or at least the three loads of laundry I had waiting for me at home. I even decided to make a big pot of homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner after being disappointed by the store-bought equivalent last night. It was pretty darn good.
It’s amazing what a shower, an afternoon out alone, a little retail therapy and a good pair of jeans can do for the soul. I should get out more often, don’t you think?
NaBloPoMo – Day 5
Since we’ve been dealing with the sickies here this weekend, I haven’t spent much time on my computer, and thus, have only proofed a couple of pics from the past week.
Here are two of Ava from her preschool Halloween party.

NaBloPoMo – Day 4
Sorry for the scarce posting this weekend, but we are all sick with a stomach virus. Julian came down with it Thursday night (I can’t count the number of shirts I went through that night from being puked on again and again and again), and by Saturday night Jody, Ava and I all had it as well. It was a rough night and day, but the good news is we all got a nice nap in today, which was desperately needed. I’m hoping we’re over the worst of it now and that Julian doesn’t get it again. (C’mon, mama’s milk – do your thing!)
This virus seems to be particularly contagious (most of the kids at Ava’s preschool, as well as some of their siblings and parents, have had it). My sister has also caught it from being around us for a couple hours on Halloween. And it seems to be worse on adults than it is on kids. Which is good news if you are a kid or the parent of a kid, but also bad news if you are the parent of a kid and you come down with it yourself. The puking phase lasted about 6-8 hours for both Ava and Julian, but it went longer than that for me and was also accompanied by chills, sweats, body aches, delusions, and other fun stuff. Thankfully Jody is slightly better off than me (he always weathers these illnesses better than me) and was able to go up to Vitamin Cottage a bit ago to pick up some more Recharge, chicken broth and soup, and crackers. I’m off to attempt eating some soup now.
Here’s hoping for a puke-free night tonight. And I hope you and yours are staying well this weekend.
P.S. If you are already feeling queasy, it’s not a good idea to do a google image search for vomit. Trust me (and be thankful I didn’t share them with you).

NaBloPoMo – Day 2
A photo I took of my Halloween zebra (Julian) and lion (Ava) is the “Neighbors: Featured Photo” on the Denver Post website today, Nov. 2. 🙂 It’s on the right side of the page, about half-way down. I’m pretty excited about it if I do say so myself. 🙂 (You can also click here to go directly to the picture.)
This happened as a result of my discovery of a cool new blog for Colorado mamas called Mile High Mamas. I submitted some photos of the kids to a gallery there and, low and behold, one was selected to be featured on the Post. 🙂 By the way, if you are a CO blogging mama and would like to get your site in the blogroll at Mile High Mamas, head on over there and shoot them an email.
