A new Mothers Milk Bank needs your votes and a breastfeeding photo contest

Two breastfeeding-related things today:

  1. Tanya at Motherwear Breastfeeding Blog needs your vote to help get a new milk bank set up in New England. Please take a look and vote for this wonderful cause. Thanks!
  2. Tulipgirl recently posted about the World Breastfeeding Week 2008 Photo Contest. Deadline to enter is Feb. 29. I hope to submit a few pictures myself and encourage all of you fabulous photographers out there to do so as well.

  1. Thanks for pointing me toward this! I’m going to check it out.

I donated over 200 oz to the milk bank with my first child (until I found out I was pregnant when she was 10 months old!) and had hoped to with my second, but tandem nursing didn’t leave a lot of time, energy or MILK for that first year of #2’s life. I did do a milk-share with the second, though – not enough to donate to the Bank, but enough to supplement another needy little guy for a while.

  2. There are no local milk banks, or I would have gladly donated! We don’t even have a local chapter of La Leche…..

Somehow, out here in the wilderness, Karl and I exclusively nursed for 6 months, and didn’t wean until 16 months (the last 12 months I was back to work full time as an attorney & pumping x2 a day!)

I’m always interested in pro-Breastfeeding causes, and actively encourage any mamas-to-be that I come in contact with 🙂
