Garden Goodness – Wordless Wednesday

This is the first year I’ve attempted to grow watermelon (which the kids LOVE) and am so pleased to see a few of them looking edible. 🙂 Its been so fun to see the melons growing a bit more each day.
I’m hoping this little baby will be ready to eat soon, but I have no idea when to pick it. Any suggestions? I think I need to track down my Botanical Interests seed packet to read more about it. 🙂

How’s your garden doing this year?

  1. I’m not exactly sure what is in my garden because there’s this little person who pulls out all the tags. I have a vague recollection of planting spaghetti squash. I think it was one tiny plant. It has taken over the bed and I think I have 10 or 12 or something. They’re gigantic and everywhere and I don’t even like spaghetti squash that much. I’d much rather have zucchini or crookneck or something. But, who knows, maybe they’re not s squash at all maybe they’re honeydew melons. You wouldn’t think I’d get those two confused but they look a lot alike when they’re small. So now I just have to wait and see…

  2. my tomatoes are huge but none are ripe!! augh, it’s september!! we had such a wet soggy dark spring, until about… oh… july. i’m still hoping for a few cucumbers which the slugs kept destroying every time the darn seedlings would sprout.

  3. Wow, that watermelon looks awesome. I heard they take up a lot of yard space, is that true? I’m not sure I would have the room for them. My garden has been slow growing this year but the little we’ve gotten so far has been tasty.
